Who hasn’t secretly wanted to wake up and find your bedroom transported to a magical forest…then to be whisked off by a mysterious masked man to frolick the night away? I know – it happens ALL THE TIME, you say…well, perhaps in some peoples dreams whom I won’t mention by name…

Elevenorchids is all about capturing dreams and visions that could possibly inspire some abstract thought…and here’s as much as we could drag from that dream-world into “reality”.

We hope you enjoy the preview, and warn your children not to check back for the remainder-as it’s slightly less PG.

Dorè was both fun and elegant as we photographed her on what had to be the hottest day, this Spring.

She has that classic beauty and sunny personality I could imagine in a Renoir painting. Her poses were simple and airy, and her smile was so infectious.

These were shot near the base of Mt Diablo in a little park called Hidden Lakes.

I couldn’t have asked for a more challenging and rewarding day. The rain poured through the first half of the workshop, making for some dramatic clouds and a stunning sunset to wrap the day up in.

It was a day of inspiration and growth, in true Spring Fashion.

The Elevenorchids Team for Vision of Spring:

Alice Kung demonstrates the art of Lifestyle modeling with wardrobe by Clover, hair by Justina of Intertwine Hair Design, and Makeup by Christine S of MBC.

Nima Shiraz both modeled and styled his set of images, titled “Mirela Antoinette”. Nima hand crafted Mirela’s necklace as well as styling both of their wardrobes for the day. Nima is an incredibly talented up & coming model as well as stylist. The two of them are quickly becoming Elevenorchids, “Classics”.

Marita is a beautiful and talented actress/model that graced us with some amazing Editorial Images. Wardrobe cleverly styled by Clover Zhang. Gorgeous Hairstyling by Justina Downs and Makeup by Christine S (MBC).

Manders styled her own wardrobe and always arrives camera-ready, since she is an incredibly talented makeup artist in her “spare” time. She demonstrated the art of High Fashion modeling.

We hope you enjoy the series of images we created for Vision of Spring!

And yes…it’s true, a workshop in August is QUITE possible.

Vintage Hollywood Beauty

Once upon a time, Hollywood was all Marion Davies, and no Gaga. You know..Greta Garbo, Ava Gardner…faces that stopped traffic and dropped jaws. While still being mildly bitter that my mother didn’t have me 60 years ago, I found a new way to get over that…

We teamed up with City Models’ newest gem Deb Fujiwara & an Industry Icon in makeup – Lauren Warner, to pay homage to that era now known as “Classic Hollywood.”

Elegantly provocative & sensually captivating, Elevenorchids combines boudoir & masterpiece photography in this tribute to Man Ray that you’re sure to enjoy.

We mixed Shaikh Beela’s amazing Henna art & the sublime poses of pink-haired goddess, Raven. What we got from them was a unique & modern tribute to Man Ray’s “Le violin D’Ingres” that just knocks my fishnets off.

Starting this set with our Masterpiece rendition, Raven seamlessly delivered exactly what we had envisioned. Taking full advantage of the glow of the Spring dusk & Beela’s free-hand artistry, we captured her frolicking in the warmth of the sun as it set behind her.

Boudoir exchange…

For most photographers, a major perk is that every now and again, you come across the opportunity to trade photo shoots with a fellow colleague. It is really refreshing and educational as it allows the photographer the opportunity to learn new poses to share with clients when we get back to the other side of the lens.

It really is one talent feeding another…plus it’s just plain fun to get all dolled up and feel sexy for a day!

These were shot in Naomi’s home studio (Capture the Glow), with a Ring Flash and a whole bunch of natural light.

Elevenorchids is finally going to spill the beans!!!
Come join us this April to find out how we do, what we do.

This Spring, your photos will take on a life of their own. This is what every photographer is looking for – to have your art out-live you.
At our workshop, you will be given the opportunity to work with 5 Industry professional models in a series of different genres of photography. Starting with Lifestyle, moving on into the art of Editorial imagery, followed by High Fashion and topped off with Fine Art Photography. Our goal is to leave you feeling fully inspired and fulfilled in every category of photography.

The models we have hired for this event are some of the best in the Industry, and have the ability to transform any photographers’ portfolio into a professional looking book you’ll be proud to show off. During the course of the workshop, you’ll be given plenty of time to work with all 5 talented models!

Also, on hand will be our fabulous “guest speaker” (Naomi of “Capture the Glow”) She will be there to work with photographers on the technical aspects of photography including setting aperture and shutter speed and how to get the best out of your current gear. If you’ve ever wondered how we create such amazing Bokeh, or how to create or enhance your own depth of field-this is your chance. Not only that, you’ll also learn how to correctly compose a perfectly structured image, and how to pose models to compliment their features.

Workshop will be held outdoors in one of our absolute favorite locations of all time, and will be from 12-4:30 on April 11th.

Midnight in the Garden of Elevenorchids

Our first shoot with Alice was in the rain…we had never shot in the rain before, but the results proved to be mesmerizing.

This time we were asked to shoot at night with her…we had never shot at night before…I think you’ll find the results positively bewitching.

Her haunting beauty and imaginative poses leave us always wanting more. The emotion she conveys so effortlessly, make her an Elevenorchids Classic.

To be around people who always seem to be inspired is how we love to spend an afternoon. Shooting with Nima & Sheena proved to be an irresistible treat as we ran out of sunlight with ideas still flowing. We were laughing & sharing the whole time & the city seemingly delighted in the whimsy of our adventure. We even had fans crowding around off to the side taking their own pictures of our model’s incredible outfits!

The spirit of Bollywood has long lingered in our bank of inspiration as something we’ve wanted to capture & the Palace of Fine Arts provided the perfect venue. Each model rose to the quirky occasion & our wonderful team of stylists were there to make it happen. The location couldn’t have been more royally perfect!

From the head-pieces & henna, to the hand-sown sari & fancy dance moves, we felt as though we were on our very own Bollywood production set.

Hats off to all involved, or it that crowns off?…Either way – enjoy the preview, friends!
